orange long-stem roses in my living room. I'm really enjoying getting/having a few flowers each week, or every couple of weeks.

just made this- necklace made of hemp string, two handmade porcelain beads, two pale blue agate beads, and one white shell I found over the weekend at the beach.. wearing it now

finally got a pair of prescription sunglasses. I went a while there, while wearing glasses, of wearing non-prescription raybans.. these are an improvement.

& I hear that the weather over the weekend may necessitate them! that would be lovely.

a seasonally inappropriate tip:

just found these needle-felted alpaca shoe inserts. straight from the farm, soft, cozy & warm. the price- $10. available from this little shop, customized in choice of (natural, undyed) color

a pretty awesome addition to any/all shoes & boots for winter. and I highly recommend especially for my circulation-challenged lady friends!

( mistakes ) were made

I bought a pair of leather dieppa restrepo's, failing to heed the wise warning of a friend that the color might not be what I was looking for. initially described as 'light gray,' they're more of a taupe/sage. really pretty, & a great shoe on most. for whatever reason, my brain rejected them.

it seems necessary to admit this mistake publicly; its not a small one. but, there's a way to move on. I worked out a nice trade with julia, who supplied me with a beautiful whiskey brown leather clutch. I've been using it everyday since it arrived

as for the shoes, I actually did need a pair. lots of walking around the city. so I got the ones pictured here- a true pale gray, and I imagine the patent will work well in the rain. my excitement for them is subdued by the circuitous consumerism route which led me to them, but I think they'll be just right

I've been keeping an eye out for a small wood table to add to our living room. I found one from this small shop & am very happy with it. its solid myrtlewood, a native wood of oregon, and is a very clever design I think

now I feel like our house is 'done,' insofar as this can ever be true- a home being a continual & exciting project. but we don't need anything, and I'm going to keep that in mind

a nice dreary saturday is a good day for felting..

I used all alpaca batts for the majority of this piece, with bits of raw silk noil & white mohair locks (the latter two from weaving works in seattle.) I love my sheep/wool but I think alpaca is even better, I have to say

I bought several beautiful, fine alpaca batts in a pretty & warm shade of gray from this shop, my favorite place for fiber.. lots of customizing available, and a super sweet lady behind the fiber farm & store

next week

some exciting new items for my shop beginning of next week.. leather zip-top pouch/clutches, all wool handmade throws, one-of-a-kind felted items & new vintage

final weddding-related item here. we printed some announcement cards for family..

the printing was simple enough, based on text I'd thought up & my friend razi designed for us. we used big & beautiful off white cards from de medici ming

next I edited down an image from one of alyson's photos, and had them printed on canvas with a border.. attached it to the right inset of the card with a clippola, and sealed the envelope with a gold fan

I like them- think they express accurately both our ceremony, and us as a couple

( chair ) + cushion

just got this new chair yesterday while out with alyson. I'm grateful to have a chair now that is original danish modern, as opposed to the few contemporary modern style chairs we have around our house (not to complain about these.) I was just saying this morning that I don't think a chair is a chair (or at least, a perfect chair) until it has something soft on it.. & then this felted mohair piece I'd ordered a little while ago just showed up
