I didn't, until about a year ago, almost ever buy independent designer items, much as I've long admired them. I got to a point where buying a pair of really beautiful green suede rachel comey boots was permissible, and from there lost some of my usual filter. I'm not really ok in general with $400 for pants. I've got a new (old) approach, please hold me to it:
● back to wearing mostly vintage- I've been finding vintage clothing recently that I'm really happy with for myself. I've noticed, looking down at my recent ensembles, that I'm primarily doing this already..
● sweaters & shawls- handmade or vintage only
● shoes- these can be dieppa restrepo, rachel comey, etc. I think its worth spending here, as I walk a lot & need decent footwear. and I just can't make myself wear new balance tennis shoes, soo.. there it is.

very well balanced, miss emeritz - i like your style, and you.
ReplyDeletei like it!
ReplyDeletei echo this and agree that shoes are worth the dough especially if they are made from quality materials and not in china. i've been swooning over a pair of dieppas myself, how do you like yours?
ReplyDeleteI really like them- they are very good for walking around, good cushioning & support. they crease a lot, quickly, and on mine, a few spots of finish have come off. I would definitely recommend them anyhow
