I've been continuing with my beaded jewelry fixation, hobby, whatever it is. Based on a few strands of beads that I bought, I was able to make several pieces. I think its a simple, organic (if I may) process to just pick a long strand of beads & have one's creativity spurred on from there
I'm thinking that I may begin to sell some of these preppy/tribal numbers in my shop, as I think they'd blend well with the general style I go for. For now, they are functioning as a relaxing activity & as gifts for friends (and myself)

I'm pleased to commence the second giveaway! Last time the item- a 1930s/40s full length black lace dress with some condition issues, for anyone who was curious- was a surprise, but this time I wanted to include photos & some description
The item for this second giveaway is a marigold lace top, in a cropped length, from the 50s/60s. It is handmade, and lined in yellow rayon. The back zips up, the waist is fitted, & the sleeves are capped.
The size is approximately an xs/small, or US size 2. Please don't hesitate, if the top isn't ideal for you, to enter on behalf of a friend- I'll be happy to gift wrap!
For anyone interested, please email your name & contact info to email@example.com or leave here in the comments.. I'll write up paper name slips as I receive entries, and pick randomly from a hat a week from today

I've loved a particular shade of yellow since I was about 13. I found an ad then, in Bazaar most likely, with a knit yellow sleeveless top I've never forgotten. Its significance is something of a conundrum.. I don't understand it. But I'm still fond of the marigold shade & the memory of how much I loved/wanted that particular top
with the memory in mind, as well as my new hobby of beaded-necklace-making, I searched for & found some lovely beads to add a small bit of color to my spring
&, nextly, the giveaway item- a lovely 1960s marigold lace top! this giveaway will begin tomorrow!

again with the spring.. its influence & impression on the feeling of a day are difficult to ignore..
while looking at southwestern items I realized it has been a bit too long since I last made something. happily, yesterday was a lovely day & I took a nice walk, stopping along the way at a bead store. I ended up putting together a beautiful, weighty bunch of chunky vintage African glass beads. the color is subdued as per my (narrow) taste & pretty lovely.. a sort of grey/taupe/green that is, I think, accompanied well by some much smaller & more delicate pale blue beads.. these are the two necklaces I came up with yesterday
after making them, feeling pretty pleased & somewhat inspired, I remembered that I have lots of beautiful materials that I could/should be working with.. I'm hoping to add a few new angles to my amateur creative routine such as crochet and more beadwork, & I'm really pretty excited

I love iconic southwestern imagery, style, colors, art.. I have to admire as a spectator, though, rather than a true participant due to my allergy to explicit displays of color.. but I find the subdued gray, blacks, occasional pale blue patterns & enjoy them fully.
a few bright examples I love.. which led me to the beads..
